Hi, I'm Braden Newell, and I'm running for Bridgewater Town Council.

Together, we can continue to build a bigger, better Bridgewater.

Who is Braden Newell?

Hello there! I’m Braden.

First, I’d like to thank you for visiting my campaign website and engaging with municipal politics. I firmly believe that while municipal politics aren’t as flashy as Federal or Provincial, municipal government is the most impactful. After all, it’s town services that collect our trash, plow our roads, and maintain our water and sewage systems. Bridgewater is an incredible town, one that continues to grow while still facing its fair share of challenges. From an overwhelmed hospital to a lack of affordable homes, Bridgewater struggles like many other Canadian towns.

We’re nearly a community of 10,000 people. It’s incredible. To me, there’s something special about this town. I’ve spent most of my life on the South Shore. I was born at the South Shore Regional Hospital, graduated high school from Park View, worked at the Bridgewater Mall (now the South Shore Centre), and now am a proud homeowner in our lovely community. It’s with this passion for our growing town that I’m running for town council, and I’m asking for your vote to get me there.

My career is in technology education. In fact, I’ve made a career making technology easier to understand. I’ve developed a talent for taking complex technical topics and translating them into similar speak. For my day job, I create learning experiences and certification courses for IT professionals and organizations looking to learn more about cybersecurity. I’m immensely proud of the work I do. Recently, I began teaching Business Technology Management at Acadia University, along with writing about Apple for pocket-lint.com.

Before moving back to Bridgewater, I lived in Halifax, where I obtained my Bachelor of Commerce in computing and information systems from Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Fredericton, concentrating in Technology Innovation. I believe in the power of experience and education.

Outside of work, you can often find me engaged with the community. I serve on the board of directors for Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia and on the School Advisory Council for Park View Education Centre. When I’m not working or volunteering, you can find me staying active and enjoying time with my three dogs, Sniper, Simba, and Honey.

It's safe to say I'm not a career politician. I'm just a guy who loves his community and enjoys giving back. I believe serving  on town council is the best way for me to have a true impact on our wonderful town.

If you're interested in electing a young, passionate, and energetic candidate, then I'm your guy. I hope to share my dedication and experience with you by serving as your listening and advocate on town council. Together, with your vote, we can overcome the most significant challenges in our communities while continuing to support our growing town. Bridgewater will continue to grow, bigger and better.

If you have any thoughts on how we can continue to improve Bridgewater, email me at braden@votenewell.ca. You can also connect with me on LinkedIn.

Thank you so much—and don’t forget to vote on October 19!

All the best,

Braden Newell
